The Development and Alumni Engagement (DAE) portfolio at UBC joins development (fundraising) and alumni UBC functions under one umbrella. DAE is a one of the leading advancement teams in Canada. With over 300 employees, DAE currently raises over $200 million and engages over 86,000 alumni annually.
DAE is seeking an inclusive and strategic Executive Director of Development to provide leadership of a complex development program which includes several diverse fundraising units with an overall annual target of $50 to $75 million+. The Executive Director works collaboratively with peers to ensure cohesiveness in program strategy and team culture to support goals and priorities as well as UBC’s overall DAE strategy. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Development, and as part of the Development Senior Management and Leadership Team, the Executive Director will inspire fundraising excellence while implementing UBC and DAE strategic plans into business practice and fostering an inclusive environment for staff based on trust, respect and care.
As UBC plans for its next and most ambitious fundraising and alumni engagement campaign, this is an exciting time to join UBC and create partnerships to advance the mission and vision of the University. The ideal candidate will bring considerable depth of experience in fundraising, strategy development and project management, inclusive behavior and practices, as well as a thorough understanding of fundraising in a University environment. As this role works closely with DAE and UBC leadership, senior volunteers, major donors, and external counsel, strong interpersonal skills, tact, discretion, and sound judgment are required. This individual will also have the ability to work simultaneously on a variety of complex projects with tight deadlines and the ability to formulate strategic plans and set direction.
