The Alumni Relations Officer (ARO) is an integral member of the Department of Advancement and Alumni Relations. The incumbent reports to the Senior Manager, Alumni Relations and works closely with the Alumni Relations Coordinator, providing strategic guidance and leadership on various programming, communications and engagement activities.
The Alumni Relations Officer leads initiatives that are important for the progression of the Alumni Relations portfolio. This requires developing, coordinating and executing strategies and initiatives related to the lifecycle of alumni to donor. Building, and nurturing successful relationships that provide mutual benefit to both the alumni and NAIT, is an essential part of this role.
The Alumni Relations Officer is responsible for leading the development and execution of a comprehensive alumni relations program in alignment to institutional priorities.
As part of the Alumni Relations team, the incumbent will focus on relationship building and engagement of alumni through various platforms and special project assignments. The successful candidate must be independently motivated, goal oriented and a strategic thinker who instills trust through effective communication and collaboration and can execute in a team oriented, results driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan, execute and manage a robust alumni relations program with metrics and benchmarks to gauge success, consistent with industry standards and reporting best practices.
Build strong ties among alumni and NAIT through a wide variety of programs, volunteer opportunities and communications.
Recognize, celebrate and profile the achievements of NAIT alumni. Execute an alumni awards program to recognize outstanding alumni achievement and engagement.
Coordinate alumni volunteer and mentorship opportunities across campus.
Track, monitor, analyze and report alumni engagement metrics to help inform future strategies.
Strategize and collaborate with NAIT Schools and departments to share resources, integrate messaging, and maximize exposure and benefits to Alumni to the institute and broader NAIT community.
Work as project lead for assignments that require a high degree of cross campus collaboration and project management skills.
Manage and grow the Business Directory platform; build relationships with members and identify potential collaboration and revenue generation opportunities.
Initiate cross-campus partnerships to develop and promote alumni offerings and increase alumni engagement. Moving the highly engaged alumni to the donor/development cycle.
Explore and research opportunities to increase Alumni offerings, including discounts, affinity partnerships.
Cultivate and leverage campus and community partnerships to increase opportunities for engagement among alumni, career services, faculty, staff and students.
Develop program(s) to educate current students about the value of being a NAIT alumnus.
Draft / edit various alumni communications and writing assignments working closely with the Marketing & Communications team.
Manage alumni social media content and digital engagement strategies, including developing strategic contests and communications on social platforms.
Collaborate with Annual Giving Officer to promote alumni engagement and philanthropy.
Work with the Development Team to support achieving fundraising objectives.
The ARO will track, report and meet engagement metrics outlined in the Department of Advancement & Alumni Relations Business Plan.
Track and update alumni records and engagement activities and work with data team to ensure we are accurately gathering, inputting and entering data.
Research, implement and measure alumni industry best practices.

Experience working in a large organization, preferably in higher education or member association is an asset
Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office, some experience with Raiser’s Edge and Campaigner is preferred. Ability to learn new technology swiftly.
Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in a related field (Business, Communications or Marketing)
Minimum 3 years of recent experience in stakeholder relations, marketing, communications or related experience. Project management volunteer management, public relations an asset.
A valid driver’s license.
Needs to accommodate flexible hours (including evenings), attending events and meetings as necessary.
Remuneration: $68,533.92 – 90,792.78 annually PLUS a comprehensive benefits package.
