The Donor Relations Officer (DRO) plays a critical part in the engagement framework to further enhance donor relationships that will ultimately impact the Department of Advancement's fundraising achievement, donor retention and NAIT's ability to attract private funds. This position will provide the highest standards of donor accountability and stewardship for prospects, friends and donors. They will do this by designing and executing strategic engagement plans for donors to move them through their donor life cycle. They will research, recommend and coordinate strategic engagement activities to enhance the Donor Relations program, including the coordination of President's Society (NAIT's recognition society). The Officer will also hold stewardship accounts and will support the strategic planning of donor related events.
Key Responsibilities:
Engagement Coordination and Stewardship Compliance:
Responsible for constantly and creatively assessing investor benefits to ensure relevancy, sustainability and donor/industry need.
Responsible for the acknowledgment process and mapping for ALL donors ensuring timely acknowledgments are in line with best practices.
Creating accountability reports for leadership donors, by synthesizing information to convey impact.
Establishing a process for an engagement plan framework and collaborate with schools, programs, departments and development staff to create engagement plans and sustainable reporting mechanisms within the CRM for strategic accounts.
Ensuring consistency in stewardship communication strategies through publications, events and custom engagement opportunities.
Advising on donor event strategies and liaise with the central conference and events team on execution.
Supporting the Manager of Donor Relations with counseling the NAIT community on naming protocols and problem solving.
Collaborating with a broad cross section of internal stakeholders across campus including school leadership, department heads and program chairs to tell stories of impact and elicit engagement opportunities for all stakeholders.
Ensuring NAIT is fulfilling on donor commitments in a timely manner.
Developing and executing several recognition programs within the portfolio.
Administration and other duties as required.
Relationship Account Management
Providing the highest level of customer service to key donors, prospects, alumni and internal stakeholder of the institute.
Holding stewardship accounts to ensure donors remain connected to the institute and nurture relationships through face to face connections and written communication.

Sound judgment, tact, incredible sensitivity and discretion.
Superior project management skills with abilities to audit processes and analyze programs to assist with data driven decisions.
Creativity.
Clear ability to interpret industry best practice and its application to NAIT.
Familiarity with Canada Revenue Agency, Charitable Fundraising Act and Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP)
Confident working independently, while supporting and contributing to team goals and objectives.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create impactful communications.
Solid understanding and comfort level with technology and systems. Skills in current audio/visual technology is an asset.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Business, Communications and/or Marketing with a minimum of 3-5 years professional experience in donor relations, portfolio management or customer centric profession.
Project Management certification an asset
Previous experience working in a post-secondary institution would be an asset.
A valid driver’s license
