The position: Reporting to the senior manager, community initiatives (CI), this role guides the processes for and maintains oversight of youth and school fundraising initiatives.
Responsibilities
Stollery Superstars Program
• Respond to inquiries from potential youth fundraisers, advising them on process within CI standards, obtaining senior manager approval as needed
• Complete and send out appropriate and timely correspondence and documentation for all initiatives
• Provide the appropriate materials and collateral as determined by the initiative
• Maintain an accurate log of all youth fundraising initiatives in the Superstars spreadsheet
• Conduct appropriate follow-up to ensure proceeds resulting from the initiative are directed to the Foundation in a timely manner
• Conduct cheque presentations, take photos and create photo certificates for the Stollery Superstars
• Generate and send out thank you letters and certificates, ensuring brand consistency and professionalism
• Assist with planning and execution of the annual Superstars party, including creating and implementing the formal program, presenting awards and working with media partners
School Philanthropy Program
• Respond to questions or inquiries from school representatives, advising them on processes within CI standards, obtaining senior manager approval as needed; use discretion to determine level of involvement
• Maintain an accurate log of all school fundraising initiatives in the Superstars spreadsheet
• Develop and deliver age-appropriate interactive presentations to classrooms as requested
• Coach and engage with school representatives to determine appropriate school packages and to ensure effective Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation information is received
• Provide collateral and materials to support a high level of engagement
• Conduct appropriate follow-up to ensure proceeds resulting from the initiative are directed to the Foundation in a timely manner
• Conduct cheque presentations, take photos and create photo certificates for school initiatives
• Generate and send out thank you letters and certificates, ensuring brand consistency and professionalism
Database management
• Create, enter and update youth and school initiatives in Raiser’s Edge in a timely and accurate fashion, ensuring donor records are maintained
• Research and follow up on missing information
• Research possible linkages between youth and school initiatives and existing donor records in Raiser’s Edge, then inform appropriate stakeholders
• Generate reports as needed
• Ensure appropriate stewardship activities are accurately captured in Raiser’s Edge and recognition provided is consistent with the Foundation’s donor recognition standards
• Set up and maintain online fundraising pages on event websites
As our ideal candidate, you’re someone who is:
• Educated, with a related university degree or college diploma or a combination of equivalent skills and experience, ideally in the area of child or youth education
• Experienced in the not-for-profit sector, ideally with two or more years of related experience
• Experienced with donor and/or event management
• Knowledgeable of various administrative processes and procedures
• Organized, deploying time management skills effectively
• Skilled with computers, exhibiting advanced skill in MS Office programs
• Experienced in using Raiser’s Edge or a similar database management system
• Detail-oriented, with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
• Able to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment, managing a variety of tasks and priorities at the same time
• A strong communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to make strong and compelling presentations
• Curious, self-motivated, accountable, flexible, tactful, positive — and fun!
• A team player, with a solutions-focused attitude who can take initiative and work independently
• Able to work flexible hours in the evening or weekend as required
• Able to maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license with access to an insured vehicle
