BCIT programs are developed through close consultation with industry, and delivered by instructors who have direct, hands-on experience in their fields. Students gain the technical skills and real-world experience needed to enter the workforce job-ready. Through its unique applied education model, BCIT is connecting education, industry, and government to power provincial strength and resilience.
An exciting opportunity has emerged for an inspired leader to be part of BCIT’s next phase of growth. A newly created role, the Vice President, External provides executive leadership to several diverse portfolios that support and enhance BCIT’s profile locally, nationally, and globally and expands and deepens relationships with elected officials, policy makers, industry leaders, students, donors and other influencers. Leading teams in marketing, advancement and government & stakeholder relations, the VP, External will be a champion of BCIT’s long term vision, mission and values. Working closely with, and reporting directly to the President, the VP, External serves as the strategic link between government agencies, relevant Board Committees, and other internal leaders, cultivating collaborative relationships and beneficial partnerships.
The ideal next Vice President, External will bring a track-record of success as a senior leader in an organization with parallels to BCIT with experience in one or more of the following: government and/or external relations; marketing; advancement and ideally brings experience leading a combination of two or more of these key functions. As a strategic and inspired leader, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to provide long-term vision, foster enduring relationships within and outside of the organization and positively influence decisions across the Institute by providing sound decision support. With a passion for higher education, the VP will be committed to collegiality, collaboration, and transparency. Authentic and meaningful engagement related to Truth and Reconciliation, and equity, diversity, and inclusion is expected.

This role will be based out of BCIT’s main campus in Burnaby, BC.
