Mandate
Catholic Social Services is looking for a detail-oriented, highly motivated, and energetic individual to join its Development and Community Relations team in the new role of Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
Catholic Social Services is full of inspiring stories. This role offers the opportunity to share the good news with the community. The position is situated in the agency’s Development and Community Relations team which is responsible for fund development, communications, and marketing and community relations. The role offers the opportunity to develop, guide and implement the next phase of CSS public relations and marketing strategies as well as to support with internal communications.
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will also help manage our Sign of Hope Employee Development (SHED) Committee, and the logistics of our community-based Friends of Sign of Hope meetings during the annual fall fundraising campaign.
Key Accountabilities
Implement CSS strategic communications plans including taking responsibility for integrated communications, marketing and fund development activities to elevate the CSS brand.
Organize media events and maintain positive working relationships with the media to ensure the CSS story is represented with vibrancy and positivity.
Write and distribute media materials, including press releases and media kits.
Plan and write key messages for spokespeople for public events.
Manage CSS’ online presence, including the website and social media channels.
Manage communications, including social media, across a large dispersed organization to minimise risk to reputation.
Create and develop inspiring audio-visual content that compels audiences to act in support of CSS and the Sign of Hope annual appeal.
Work with other members of the DCR team to maintain and promote CSS’ Brand standards.
Ensure all communications by CSS are aligned with the agency’s Catholic identity and with the agency’s values.
Work with CSS staff, and people served, to capture and recount the stories of clients ensuring that people served by CSS are portrayed in a positive, respectful and dignified fashion.
Organize events which support the agency’s communications and fund development goals.
Support internal communications, including serving as a trusted advisor to the agency’s leadership about how best to fulfill the agency’s communications potential.
Support the management of crisis communications, as appropriate.
Provide analytics and analysis of all agency communication and marketing initiatives congruent with goals and indicators.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have the following: Skills, Abilities and Attributes:
Warm, friendly and diplomatic interpersonal skills with an outgoing, people-oriented personality.
Strong written and verbal communications. Experience writing for multiple platforms and audiences.
Experience creating content for social media.
Experience with basic web editing.
The ability to work individually and as part of an integrated team environment.
Excellent time management and prioritizing ability.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability.
Superb attention to detail.
Ability to meet tight deadlines.
Resilient and able to adapt to change easily. Formal Education and Experience
A degree in Communications, English, Event Management, Marketing, Fund Development or Public Relations, with three to five years’ experience in a similar role in the non-profit sector.
A certificate or diploma with five to eight years’ experience in a similar role in the not-for-profit sector.
A SCMP, CMP or CFRE designation is considered an asset.
