Salary: $80,000 - $90,000


WIN House provides individuals and their children fleeing violence crisis response and intervention, safe temporary accommodation, and support for basic needs. Those seeking our services are offered trauma-informed, client-centered programming and support, access to resources, information, and referrals to community supports.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with high value donors in Edmonton and Northern Alberta.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Development team to build and advance strong personal and professional relationships that result in philanthropic contributions. They will serve as a resource, advocate and spokesperson for fundraising efforts.

The Major Gifts Officer will:

  • Develop funding proposals and negotiate/structure gifts to the organization.

  • Prepare effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans for current and prospective donors in their pipeline.

  • Maintain a major donor/prospect portfolio of approximately 100 relationships with identified capacity to give $5,000 and more.

  • Ensure gifts are processed and acknowledged appropriately.

  • Collaborate on donor strategy and prospect research.

  • Work independently and creatively to match donor interests with WIN house priorities.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Skilled relationship-builder.

  • Demonstrated project management skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to match donor needs and interests with organizational priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Five-plus years of experience in major or planned gift fundraising with a track record of closing gifts of $10,000 and greater. Related experience in sales, financial services and business development will be considered.

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset.

  • Experience with a variety of fundraising tools and strategies.

  • Demonstrated experience in donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Standard hours of work are 8:30 to 4:30 from Monday to Thursday and from 8:30 to 2:30 on Fridays. The successful candidate should be available for evening and weekend work and, on occasion, may need to travel within the city to successfully fulfill position requirements. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 per year. Win House offers a pet-friendly, team -oriented, hybrid working environment.
