Head of Development & Donor Engagement

Salary: $95,000 - $130,000 - Salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience
Founded in 1924, the Art Gallery of Alberta is the primary visual arts organization in Alberta, fostering visual creativity and representing our province and its artists on the provincial, national and international stage. In 2024, the AGA will celebrate our 100th anniversary and we take pride in the fact that we are Alberta’s oldest cultural institution and still the province’s only solely dedicated art museum.
Reporting to the Executive Director / Chief Curator, the Head of Development & Donor Engagement will lead the Development Department and direct the AGA’s fundraising efforts in support of its institutional mission, programs, special projects and operations. The position focuses on achieving the AGA’s annual and longer-term fundraising goals and expanding philanthropic activities within the AGA, as well as its community. For the next two years, the position will be highly focused on achieving a $20M Endowment Campaign, tied to the significant milestone of the 100th Anniversary of the Art Gallery of Alberta.
In addition, the Head of Development & Donor Engagement will oversee a development team who are accountable for annual fundraising through: corporate sponsorships, private donations, annual campaigns, membership and fundraising events.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of non-profit fundraising and successful stewardship of relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations and governmental partners. The Head of Development & Donor Engagement is a key member of the AGA’s management team and is an ambassador to its audience and community. The successful candidate will bring excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a keen ability to prioritize within a creative work environment.
