The Alberta SPCA is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual with a genuine interest in animal welfare for the position of Donor Engagement Coordinator based in Edmonton.

About the Donor Engagement Coordinator role

As an experienced communicator, the Donor Engagement Coordinator interacts with donors to provide consistent, effective, and meaningful solicitation and stewardship opportunities through various media and channels. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Fund Development Manager.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Building positive relationships with donors and stakeholders and ensure they are engaged through consistent and effective communications through various media.

  • Proposing, designing and implementing engagement strategies, including developing a stewardship matrix, to enhance and support annual giving and donor relations. Developing and implementing online/digital systems to steward and retain existing donors, while also cultivating new donors.

  • Leading engagement with and stewardship of annual giving donors, including making or overseeing thank you calls and writing letters of acknowledgement. Supporting the Fund Development Manager and Executive Director in engaging and stewarding mid[1]level and major donors.

  • Creating and editing stewardship reports and case materials, fundraising and cultivation email campaigns, digital newsletters, social media posts, and website features. Collaborating with stakeholders and internal staff on the creation of timely and personalized donor-centered stewardship content that highlights impact and gratitude.

  • Maintaining and creating digital giving opportunities through various channels.

  • Growing online and social media presence by collaborating with Fund Development and Communications teams to create and post content for social media platforms, as well as engaging influencers and followers.

This position is based in the Alberta SPCA head office, located in northwest Edmonton. It is a flexible, full-time (remote work possible) schedule working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Note our head office is pet-friendly with an office pet policy in place.

About our ideal candidate

For success in this role, an ideal candidate will have these skills, qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ post-secondary education in Fund Development, Communications, Marketing or a related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ combined education & professional experience preferably in a non-profit setting. Previous experience in a fundraising role strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal with a proven track record in donor/customer support.

  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Self-directed in their work, with a capacity to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • A high level of integrity and commitment to fundraising ethics.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a solid understanding of CRM databases; knowledge of digital fundraising software, email marketing software and social media platforms considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of compliance requirements relevant to charitable sector (i.e., CASL, CRA, PCI, PIPA, PIPEDA).

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive not-for-profit starting salary of $50,850. In addition to a comprehensive health, dental and life benefits package, the Alberta SPCA offers a pension program, an employee RRSP program, and three weeks’ annual vacation to start.
