Who Are We?

The Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization which operates Jessie’s House, a 35-bed stage one emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence located in Morinville, AB (20 KM north of St. Albert). Jessie’s House follows trauma-informed practices while serving Sturgeon County including CFB Edmonton, St. Albert, Alexander First Nation, and surrounding communities lacking shelter services. Employment Type: Fulltime

Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility required to work additional hours, evenings and weekends as required

JOB OVERVIEW

The Sponsorship and Donor Relations Strategist will report to the Executive Director and work collaboratively with the JMMF team. In your role, you will support the Foundation’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan by creating opportunities to grow community support and revenue opportunities with a focus on annual giving, corporate and individual donations, and donor cultivation and stewardship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

  • Create, maintain, and grow corporate and individual giving as outlined in the fund development strategy, and, as directed by the executive director

  • Build and grow relationships with donors and sponsors

  • Meet fundraising goals and deadlines

  • Support Foundation vision, mission, values, and strategic direction

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement corporate giving program

  • Implement donor cultivation and stewardship program

  • Implement individual giving programs

  • Maintain donor records, follow processes and procedures, including gift acknowledgment and recognition

  • Support the development and maintenance of the fund development tool kit in collaboration with the Strategic Relationship Advisor

  • Provide Strategic Relationship Advisor with content for donor/sponsor recognition on social media and website

  • Develop sponsorship packages and agreements, secure corporate sponsorships, meet sponsorship contract obligations, and fundraising targets for JMMF signature events

  • Support and meet fundraising goals for activities such as Empower a Family, Christmas ask, Light in the Window, and direct marketing campaigns

  • Prepare reports as directed by the executive director

  • Attend staff meetings and training workshops at the request of the Executive Director

  • Build collaborative, respectful, and professional working relationships with co-workers, clients, stakeholders, and community partners

Facility Related

  • Maintain a high degree of safety, security, and confidentiality

  • Support Executive Director in in the implementation of other programs, as requested by the Executive Director

The Sponsorship and Donor Relations Strategist will also complete all other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director and Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary education, with preference given to an applicant with 1 to 3 years of experience in fundraising within a non-profit environment

  • Demonstrated experience with securing sponsorship and donations

  • Superior interpersonal skills, making presentations and public speaking skills, good listening, and negotiation skills

  • Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities and the ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • A skill for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience in Donor Database Management systems an asset

  • Exceptional planning and prioritization skills, time management and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office programs, writing reports, letters

  • Demonstrated drive and initiative to accomplish results

  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently

WORK CONDITIONS

  • 37.5 hours per work, Monday to Friday flexibility required to work additional hours, evenings and weekends as required

  • Some travel may be required

  • Partial work from home, set up office accordingly, adhere to the confidentiality, proper use of equipment, and specified hours of work policy

  • Moderate physical effort required to assist with events that could involve lifting, standing long periods of time and working in various climates. Pro-longed periods of sitting, computer use

  • Moderate to extreme mental effort required to meet deadlines, ensure accuracy of data and entry into Client Relationship Management systems. Ability to handle and respond to occasional intense situations

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Driver’s License, current Driver’s Abstract
