Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 - Salary is negotiable based on experience and education

EHS plays a key role in the Edmonton region by enriching the lives of people and their companion animals not only through our sheltering, but through our programs, services and community engagement.

The Role

As a member of the Fund Development team, the Development Officer, Individual Giving creates, maintains, and grows donor and community support and revenue opportunities focusing on individual giving and planned giving.

The ideal candidate will find success in this position by employing a passionate and committed approach to fund development practice.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

This position is responsible for a variety of duties as follows:

Individual Donor Giving and Development

  • Determine overall direction, strategy and new initiatives for increased donor participation and stewardship

  • Research and identify current trends in individual donor giving and development

  • Liaise as appropriate with prospective donors to cultivate and grow steward major gift giving donors

Planned Giving

  • Develop strategy for identification and implementation of Planned Giving approach

  • Gather data, assess prospects, and develop comprehensive long-range and short-term strategies designed to realize current planned and lifetime giving potential of individual prospects.

  • Provide support at an organizational and operational level to provide support in multiple ways such as supporting awareness and communications initiatives.

Donor Naming Opportunities and Growth

  • Research and identify current and future naming opportunities for increased revenue streams

  • Produce and standardize naming convention opportunities to streamline organization documentation

Donor Stewardship

  • Lead donor stewardship for gifts $1000+

  • Identify and implement plans for increased donor stewardship

Education & Requirements

  • A certificate, diploma or degree in a related field (fund development, business, marketing, communications, public relations, social sciences.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit with proven track record in fund devlopment and staekeloder relations

  • Knowledge, experience or training in donor relations, fundraising and sponsorship, and event management is an asset as is familiarity with a donor database such as Raiser’s Edge.

As the ideal candidate, you will exercise tact, good judgment, confidentiality, and discretion while upholding high standards of performance and accountability in a multi-tasking environment. You possess strong planning, organizational and project management skills as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Success will be achieved by adopting an outlook which embraces change as a constant and by proactively managing a large and constantly fluctuating workload.

Compensation/Hours

Compensation: EHS offers a competitive Not-For-Profit compensation package which includes a comprehensive benefits package, and a strong work-life balance.

Hours: 40 hours a week; however, is expected to work hours as required to fulfill department responsibilities and some evenings and weekends may be required.
