Salary: $76,500 - $103,500 - Salary is negotiable based on experience and education

The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories (AS AB/NT) is seeking an authentic and approachable Major Gift & Planned Giving Officer to make a significant impact in the lives of people who are affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

This permanent full-time position is suitable for a results-oriented relationship-builder, with a track record of major gift fundraising, who will contribute to a caring and supportive environment in support of the AS AB/NT vision.

The Position

Reporting to the Provincial Lead, Philanthropy, the Major Gift & Planned Giving Officer will achieve goals outlined in the Annual Fund Development plan, major gift fundraising, and planned giving program objectives. This position will work closely with the Philanthropy team to identify and increase donor succession to optimize the AS AB/NT donor program.

The deliverables of the Major Gift and Planned Giving Officer include:

  • Soliciting donations of $5,000 and higher from individuals, corporations, and other funders

  • Developing and executing strategies to identify, research, cultivate and solicit prospects for major and planned gifts

  • Maintaining a fast-paced schedule of face-to-face visits to steward current donors and to engage new major donor prospects

  • Conducting major gift prospect identification through wealth screening scores, member analytics, self-selection, and community research

  • Writing individualized cultivation, solicitation and stewardship letters, proposals and reports

  • Completing timely and appropriate gift acknowledgment and donor recognition.

  • Participating in all aspects of the gift cycle

  • Creating and managing legacy and estate planning program and growing the overall donor base and prospect pool

  • Other duties commensurate with the position deliverables as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, marketing, public relations, business or similar field, fundraising courses or CRFE designation an asset

  • 5+ years of professional experience in fundraising and proven track record of personally closing five- and six-figure gifts

  • Familiarity with legacy giving and planned giving vehicles

  • Familiarity with tracking donor connections, follow-ups and gifts in the donor database (eTapestry or Raiser’s Edge preferred)

  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of major gift donors to develop relationships between them and the Society

  • Excellent time management and relationship-building skills

  • Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Committed to supporting and enhancing organizational culture and values

  • Professional, thorough, dependable, flexible and acts with integrity

  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search

  • Valid Class 5 license and access to a vehicle

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid environment with routine use of computer

  • Off-site work (meetings, functions, attendance at events, etc.)

  • 35-hour workweek (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) with flex time available

  • Some travel required

  • AS AB/NT office is a professional working environment, with appropriate professional attire and attitude expectations at all times
