JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director, Leadership Giving, the senior manager, Leadership Giving will build a sustainable major gifts program, raising funds to support vital mission priorities of the Canadian Cancer Society in the Prairies (including Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) region. Focus is primarily on working with individuals to secure major gifts, while understanding the importance of also engaging donors in larger conversations around corporate giving, and if relevant, planned giving.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

- Develops and implements strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift donors with the goal of building a pipeline valued of $2M+, with cash raised annually at a minimum of $1M annually.
- Develops and manages a pipeline of key accounts using moves management to track and attain activity metrics.
- Conducts prospect research and analysis, generates proposals, fundraising materials, reports and other related communications.
- Solicits current and prospective donors to secure funding support for CCS priority projects such as the Research Campaign and support programs across Canada.
- Ensures appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgement, and stewardship.
- Maintains accurate records of donors, prospects using and inputting in Salesforce database.
- Develops and manages a minimum of 100-150 key accounts.
- Prepares and closes on major gift solicitations ($10,000+).
- Collaborates and works closely with colleagues across the country in Leadership Giving
- Contributes to the planning process.
- Works with cross-functional partners to anticipate linkages in annual plans to ensure that required resources/deliverables are integrated and supported across CCS teams.
- In collaboration with the Director, Leadership Giving, formulates the annual operating budget.
- Actively contributes to Leadership Giving Team initiatives to achieve fundraising targets and deliver on department priorities.
- Provides timely and relevant information for the Director, Leadership Giving regarding Major Gifts activity.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Represents CCS with passion and professionalism.
- Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- 6 to 8 years of experience managing a major gift pipeline with demonstrated success raising funds.
- Strong track record of securing individual major gifts in a complex not-for-profit organization.
- Experience using donor database management tools such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce.
- Access to a vehicle as travel is required.
- Role is currently hybrid between office and remote work, but this may change at any time to more regular office located work at CCS Calgary office.
- Intermittent evening and weekend work; adjusts hours and schedule as necessary to meet the demands of the community.
- Regular travel to attend off-site meetings and events within the local communities, occasional travel beyond to attend scheduled meetings and events.
- Travel within AB; MB; SK as needed.
- CFRE designation is an asset.
