About the session:

Global Philanthropic Inc. (Canada) is proud to release the first in its series of Knowledge Creation reports: Connecting ROI and Prospect Research: A Report to the Canadian Non-Profit Sector by Igor Osipov, PhD.

This report provides a practical and evidence-based review of prospect research in Canadian philanthropy and how its value and return on investment is perceived in charitable organizations, both large and small. A key finding is prospect research showed both short and long-term value, during times of change, and for strategic, major gift and large campaigns. There is a clear connection between effective use of digital technologies and organizational fundraising capacity.

Even if you are not the person handling prospect research in your organization, here’s why YOU should attend:

  • Good prospect research makes you a better and more effective fundraiser

  • Information you need to argue for research money is right there in your organization’s database

  • The cost of research is peanuts compared to the potential returns.

Dr. Igor Osipov is an internationally recognized researcher, working for the past 20 years in leadership positions in digital science with Holtzbrinck and Writefull, as well as @Elsevier and PM Expert.  Dr. Osipov joined Global Philanthropic as the Vice President of Knowledge Creation in the spring of 2020 and will lead the creation of new knowledge for the non-profit and fundraising sectors through research, producing world-class contributions to the sector each quarter.

Guy Mallabone, current President and CEO of Global Philanthropic Canada, will join Dr. Osipov in presenting the highlights from this report on March 17th to AFP Edmonton.  Guy is a former member of the International AFP Board of Directors, and past recipient of the AFP Calgary chapter award for outstanding fundraising professional in 2011, and also from the Edmonton AFP chapter in 1999.  He states, “In this report, research makes the clear link between investment in prospect research and overall fundraising success.  Our goal with this series is to add important knowledge to the non-profit sector that will increase fundraisers’ capacity to reach their fundraising goals. We are looking at common issues through a new lens to add a fresh perspective to the fundraising toolbox.”
