monthly education session series hosted every 3rd Thursday of the month

About the session:

This session will feature three speakers from Bitcoin Well, Raymond James Ltd. and Rafflebox who will discuss cryptocurrencies, impact investing and online raffles as funding sources in fundraising. You’ll learn about the benefits and impact these sources have on our sector, as well as the potential wins and threats for organizations. See below for a brief overview of the topics that will be covered at this session:

  • Bitcoin is a new form of money. Find out how bitcoin, combined with the blockchain technology behind it, can open up the door to new and innovative ways of raising funds.

  • Impact Investing – Giving strategies simplified : Impact investing is a growing trend between organizations and donors. Be prepared to learn about two simple, progressive strategies to maximize the short and long-term benefits for those donating as well as the organizations they are donating to. 

  • Upping your online fundraising: Digital and online raffles are growing in popularity among charities and not-for-profit groups. Learn how to help your charitable organization raise funds online through a 50/50, prize raffle or employee payroll 50/50.

About the speakers: 

Dave Bradley


Chief Revenue Officer, Bitcoin Well

Dave Bradley is a prominent figure in the Bitcoin industry and is widely considered one of the leading experts in Canada on bitcoin, cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Prior to his current role as the Chief Revenue Officer at Bitcoin Well, Dave founded the world’s first bricks-and-mortar Bitcoin store and co-founded the successful company, Bull Bitcoin, which is Canada’s longest-serving bitcoin brokerage. He also serves as a Vice President for the Canadian Blockchain Consortium, Canada’s largest non-profit network of blockchain companies and influencers.

Matt Kassian, BComm
Financial Advisor, Raymond James Ltd.

Prior to transitioning to the investment industry in 2016, Matt Kassian played hockey professionally for eight seasons in the National Hockey League and American Hockey League for the Minnesota Wild and Ottawa Senators organizations. Matt has a Bachelor of Commerce degree as well as a diploma in Business Management. During the course of his athletic career he won several awards including the American Special/AHL Houston Aeros Man of the Year Award (2010) for outstanding contributions to the Houston community and the WHL Western Conference Scholastic Player of the Year (2006). Matt is licensed as a financial advisor in both the U.S and in Canada.

In his spare time Matt is also a hockey analyst for TSN 1260 radio in Edmonton. He is currently a member of the NHL Alumni Association and the Edmonton Oilers Alumni Association. He is also very active in the community, donating his time to several charities through the Edmonton Oilers Alumni Association, as well as guest coaching at several local minor hockey associations. Matt now lives in Sherwood Park with his wife Amanda and their daughters Amery, Callie, and Josephine.

Amber Froese
VP, Marketing & Communications, Rafflebox

Amber is the Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Rafflebox Technologies Inc. Rafflebox was created out of a desire to help charities – big or small – raise funds for their worthy causes. They provide a secure, online platform that allows charities to run digital 50/50s and prize raffles within a dashboard that takes care of many of the administrative tasks that come along with a 50/50. From stellar customer support to marketing plan assistance and a built-in random number generator – Rafflebox makes it easy for any organization to run an online raffle.

Amber earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a diploma in Advertising from Lethbridge College. Over her career, she has worked extensively in large oil and gas companies in stakeholder management, communications, investor relations and marketing. Amber serves on the Board of Epiphany Group and the not-for-profit, Engineering Ministries International and enjoys providing strategic oversight and communication guidance. When Amber’s not working, you can find her exploring new countries or hiking in the mountains with her husband, Tim.
